Ice Geometry — Frozen Lake Crystal Architecture

87.52 £

An aerial macro view of ice crystal formations on the surface of a frozen Alpine lake — geometric fractures and dendritic crystal growth creating a natural architectural plan.

Description

Photographed from a drone at approximately 8 metres above the surface of a frozen Alpine lake in the Austrian Tyrol, with a macro lens adapted for the drone gimbal, this image resolves the individual crystal structures in ice sheet that formed over a 36-hour freeze period at -18°C. The hexagonal dendritic growth forms compete with the tensioncrack geometry lines that fracture the sheet into polygonal fields, creating a pattern of extraordinary complexity. The image reads simultaneously as an aerial architectural plan, a natural crystallographic study, and a fine art minimalist composition. Available in both warm blue-tinted and neutral grey-toned colour variants in the digital download package.
