Void Series I — Pure Black Abstract

499.00 د.إ

A photographic study of pure darkness — a light-absorbing Vantablack-adjacent surface photographed with absolute precision to reveal the residual texture within near-perfect blackness.

Description

Using a proprietary laboratory-grade light-absorbing coating applied to a large curved panel, this photograph attempts to document the near-absolute absence of reflected light — a surface that absorbs approximately 99.8% of incident light. The photograph was made using a calibrated photometric light source and a medium format camera with a 16-stop dynamic range sensor, the extreme sensitivity of which reveals the barely-perceptible texture of the coating even at this near-zero reflectance level. The resulting image is simultaneously a document of material science and an extreme minimalist aesthetic statement — pure black but not uniform, absolute darkness but not empty. This is a conceptually singular photograph with a dedicated collector audience in conceptual art and material science communities.
