Harris Tweed, hand-woven in the Outer Hebrides from pure new wool dyed with locally sourced natural pigments, has a yarn structure and weave architecture of extraordinary micro-complexity. This photograph, made at 4:1 reproduction ratio (four times life size) with a bespoke bellows and optical flat correction, resolves individual wool fibres and the twist architecture of the spun yarn, revealing the three-dimensional interlocking geometry of the plain weave at scales where it begins to resemble a woven landscape. The warm earth tones — heather, bracken, peat, and ocean grey — of the natural dye palette are reproduced with full colour accuracy.
