Description
Achieved using a precisely calibrated air column from an industrial HVAC plenum directed through a precision nozzle at a sheet of 12mm charmeuse silk, this photograph captures the fabric in a complex three-dimensional flow form at 1/4000 second. The resulting shape is both physically accurate — a genuine record of the fabric’s aerodynamic behaviour — and visually extraordinary, the silk forming a shape somewhere between a bird wing, a water wave, and a breaking wave at the moment of curl. The image is shot against a neutral grey background and the digital download includes a background-removed version for immediate use in fashion and luxury textile editorial, e-commerce, and advertising contexts.
