Seoul Namsan Tower — Night City Panorama

152.80 £

Seoul’s N Seoul Tower photographed from the Namsan Park approach path at night — the tower illuminated above the forested Namsan hill, the full Seoul metropolitan panorama extending below in a sea of light.

Description

N Seoul Tower stands 236 metres on the summit of Namsan (South Mountain) at the geographical centre of Seoul, providing a 360-degree panoramic view of the metropolitan area. The tower’s illumination — cycling through colour sequences on special occasions and a constant white programme standard — makes it the most visible fixed point in Seoul’s nocturnal cityscape, visible from every district of the city. The approach paths through Namsan Park provide multiple vantage points from which the tower can be photographed above the forested hillside with the city panorama below. This photograph was made from a cleared viewpoint on the Namsan cable car station building roof at 10pm — a position that places the tower above the near-forested hillside and gives full visibility of the city panorama below. The city’s characteristic red neon crosses (Korean Protestant churches), the concentrated CBD towers of Gangnam-gu in the background, and the Han River visible as a dark gap create the Seoul-specific character of the city panorama.
