Sandy Beach Patterns — Rügen Aerial Study

479.00 د.إ

An aerial view of the Baltic coast of Rügen Island after a receding tide — sand patterns, beach bars, and shallow water creating a graphic coastal abstract.

Description

The chalk-white sand beaches of Rügen Island in the German Baltic develop extraordinarily complex ripple and bar patterns under the influence of the Baltic’s modest but persistent tidal and wave action. This aerial photograph, made from a drone at 60m above the Prora beach in the hour after high tide, captures the sand surface in its most graphically complex state — wet sand with a spectrum of tonal variation from near-black submerged areas through dark grey saturated sand to the pale cream of dry beach, with wave ripple patterns creating a repeating linear texture across the entire composition. The palette — cream, grey, pale blue water — is minimal and Nordic in character.
