Marina Bay Sands — Singapore Sky Park

Marina Bay Sands photographed at blue hour from the Marina Bay waterfront — the three towers and their boat-shaped sky park silhouetted against a deep blue sky, the reflection extending across the bay, the Supertrees of Gardens by the Bay visible.

Description

Marina Bay Sands — the 57-storey three-tower integrated resort by Moshe Safdie, completed 2010 — is Singapore’s most iconic contemporary architectural landmark: three curved towers connected at the 57th floor by a 340-metre long cantilevered sky park that projects 65 metres beyond the northernmost tower. At night, the sky park’s edge illumination and the tower facades create a distinctive profile that is immediately recognisable. This photograph was made from the Bayfront promenade across Marina Bay at blue hour — 25 minutes after sunset — when the sky retains a deep cerulean blue against which the illuminated tower profiles achieve maximum definition. The bay’s calm surface — shielded from wind by the surrounding urban development — provides a near-perfect reflection. The Gardens by the Bay Supertrees are visible as a secondary architectural element to the right of the main towers, their own illumination creating a complementary vertical rhythm.
