Fire Dance — Flame Choreography at 1/8000s

126.43

A fire performer’s poi photographed at 1/8000 second in complete darkness — the flame caught in a complex three-dimensional arc at its most aerially extended moment.

Description

Working with a trained fire performance artist in a controlled outdoor space, this photograph captures a single moment in a figure-eight poi pattern at the precise apex of the arc where the flame has both maximum extension and maximum clarity — the speed-frozen fire revealing the internal structure of the combustion envelope, from the deep blue inner cone through the intermediate orange zone to the bright yellow outer flame tip. Captured using a camera with leaf-shutter capability at 1/8000 second in absolute darkness, the image uses only the light of the flame itself. No additional lighting, no composite, no post-processing additions. A pure, single-frame documentary of fire physics as visual art.
