Champagne bubble photography at macro scale reveals the deterministic physics of nucleation — each bubble stream originates from a single nucleation site, a microscopic scratch or cellulose fibre on the glass interior surface, and the bubble size and release frequency are determined by the dissolved CO₂ concentration, the surface energy of the nucleation site, and the liquid temperature. This image was made immediately after pouring into a crystal champagne flute, 15 individual nucleation streams visible rising from the glass base and walls. Shot at 2:1 macro with a 100mm macro lens and a single diffused backlight positioned behind the glass, the bubbles appear as white-rimmed transparent spheres against the backlit champagne. Each stream shows the characteristic size gradient — smaller bubbles at the nucleation point growing steadily larger as they rise and CO₂ diffuses from the supersaturated liquid into the growing bubble.
