Cuban Torcedor — Cigar Rolling Craft

54.52 د.ك

A master cigar roller photographed at their taburete in a historic Havana tobacco factory — the hands and face in sharp focus, the complex manual skill of the chaveta knife work captured mid-roll.

Description

Havana’s historic cigar factories — Real Fábrica de Tabacos Partagás, H. Upmann, Romeo y Julieta — maintain the traditional production system in which torcedores (cigar rollers) hand-roll each cigar entirely from start to finish using the chaveta curved knife, the casquillo circular mould, and the media rueda of wrapper leaf. A skilled torcedor produces approximately 150 hand-made cigars per day, and the craft requires 9 years of training to master. This photograph was made with formal factory access permission, positioned alongside the work taburete at a low angle to include both the hands in active rolling motion and the face — the torcedor’s expression one of deep concentration and professional pride. The tobacco leaf texture, the fine knife work, and the progressive construction of the cigar are all resolved in the available factory window light.
