Description
The interior cavity of a premium Tahitian vanilla bean (Vanilla tahitensis) is filled with an extraordinary biological material — thousands of microscopic seeds (each approximately 0.3mm × 0.08mm) embedded in an aromatic oleoresin containing the characteristic vanilla flavour compounds. At 3:1 macro reproduction, the individual seeds are visible as tiny elongated dark objects within the translucent amber resin matrix, the curved walls of the split pod creating a compositional frame for the interior landscape. The photograph was made with a split pod laid flat on a backlit acrylic surface to allow light transmission through the translucent resin, supplemented by a sidelight to reveal the surface texture of the pod’s inner wall.
