Description
The Petronas Twin Towers were the world’s tallest buildings from their completion in 1998 until 2004, and their distinctive architectural profile — the facade ornament derived from the eight-pointed star of Islamic geometry, the pinnacle spires, and the unique double-deck Skybridge connection at levels 41-42 — remains one of the world’s most recognisable urban silhouettes. The dawn photography window — when the sky is deep violet-blue and the tower facades begin to receive the first horizontal sun — is optimal for communicating both the tower form and the Skybridge detail simultaneously. This image was made from the KLCC park at the base of Tower 1 looking up at the full tower height at 6:45am: both towers are in the frame, the Skybridge spanning the gap between them at levels 41-42, the sky transitioning from deep blue overhead to pale orange at the horizon behind the towers.
