Description
The Dubai Frame — opened in 2018 — is an architectural landmark of calculated symbolic intent: a 150-metre high rectangular frame whose two towers connect at the top via a glass-floored sky bridge, framing the old Dubai districts on one side and the new Downtown skyline on the other. The structure’s gold-clad aluminium cladding and the sky bridge’s glass floor create a visual drama that is most effectively photographed from Zabeel Park to the south at dusk, when the warm gold of the frame cladding contrasts with the deep blue of the transitional sky and the early building illuminations visible through the frame’s open rectangle. This photograph was made from a position 400 metres south of the structure using a tilt-shift 90mm lens to correct the perspective convergence and maintain the frame’s verticality in the composition. The residual post-sunset sky within the frame rectangle creates a composition within a composition.
