Description
The Millau Viaduct, designed by Norman Foster and structural engineer Michel Virlogeux, carries the A75 autoroute across the Tarn valley at a maximum height of 343m above the valley floor — taller than the Eiffel Tower. This aerial photograph, made from a helicopter at 600m altitude above the roadway, captures the full plan extent of the 2,460m viaduct — the seven cable-stayed masts, the paired cable fans supporting the roadway deck, and the sweeping horizontal alignment of the deck as it follows the curve of the valley crossing. The photograph has been licensed by Eiffage, the concession company, as an official documentation image and is available for commercial licensing for engineering and construction sector communications.
