Urban Rooftop Patterns — London Aerial Study

499.00 د.إ

A nadir aerial view of central London rooftops — a century of roof styles, materials, plant growth, HVAC equipment, and aerials creating an accidental abstract composition.

Description

Cities are designed and experienced from ground level, but their rooftops — the fifth façade, unseen from the street — are a completely undesigned accumulation of utilitarian objects, accidental surfaces, and organic growth that creates an abstract composition of considerable richness when seen from directly above. This nadir photograph of a central London block captures the extraordinary variety of rooftop surfaces: Victorian lead flat roofs with ornamental parapet copings, mid-century bituminous felt with HVAC ductwork, modern planted green roofs, water tanks, chimney stacks, solar panels, and pigeon netting. The accidental composition, free from any design intention, creates a documentary image that functions as fine art.
